Occupational Therapy

Occupational Therapy, known as OT, is a specialist healthcare profession which uses assessment and treatment to empower people to reach their full potential, achieve their goals and enjoy life.  Occupational therapy provides practical support to enable people to overcome barriers that prevent them from doing activities and help people’s independence.

At Jumpstart Therapy we specialise in children’s OT.  When a child has learning, emotional, physical or sensory difficulties there may be barriers to accessing opportunities and living a fulfilled life.

Occupational therapists have an in-depth understanding of child development, medical conditions, neurology, psychology and sensory integration which they use to help children achieve their full potential.  They use specialist assessments to observe a child’s difficulties (sensory, social, physical, environmental or emotional) and provide effective treatment techniques and plans.  Play and activity is used to develop children’s skills through the use of  specialist equipment.
