At Jump Start Therapy we will work with you, or your organisation from initial contact through to making a tailor made treatment programme. We offer a complete range of services from assessments to therapy. When working with children we believe the key to helping them reach their full potential is by getting to know and understand them. Our mission is provide first class assessment and treatment, working alongside families and schools to develop children’s skills and help them gain confidence. We also specialise in adolescence and young adult care, working towards independence and helping with skills that are essential for everyday living.
We can accept direct referrals from parents, but are also directly employed by schools and local authorities. We offer: home or school visits, assessments, treatment plans, sensory diets, sleep counselling, and can provide specialised legal reports.
We can offer treatment at our Centre, at your home or at school. Our reports can be used to support Health and Social Care Plans. We have contracts with a number of schools to provide specialist sensory integration and occupational therapy support.
Jump Start also helps charitable organisations and we regularly give our own free time to support, advise and train groups.

A full assessment gives a comprehensive and thorough view of a child’s needs. It it a 2-3 hour process at Jump Start Centre using standardised assessment eg BOT-2, Sensory Profile, DASH. The report will be a substantial document and will include recommendations for home (and school if applicable). If required, this report is detailed as can be used as part of an Education, Health and Care Plan (extra cost applies). We can also visit the child’s school for observations (added cost). This assessment includes a follow up meeting or phone call to discuss the results and therapeutic recommendations.

Reports can be commissioned for medico-legal services, especially for tribunals where there are concerns regarding sensory processing difficulties, and to assess occupational therapy need. These reports are done to the highest standard and will include standardised assessment, norm referenced questionnaires and detailed observations in any setting. We can also attend tribunals as expert witnesses when necessary.

This multi-disciplinary assessment by Jump Start Centre is designed to provide an in-depth assessment of the child’s and family’s support needs and how this relates to their attachment relationships and early childhood trauma history. Our aim is to help produce positive outcomes for families by establishing their needs and identifying the areas that therapeutic support can be offered.
The assessment will include a comprehensive report and will be concluded with a formulation meeting with the parents/carers, and child’s care team, when appropriate recommendations can be made and an intervention support plan devised.
This assessment will be overseen by a Consultant Clinical Psychologist registered with the Health and Care Professional Council (HCPC). The assessment will be conducted by a Clinical Psychologist (HCPC registered) and an Occupational Therapist (HCPC registered), with Sensory Attachment training and Sensory Integration training. This collaboration between psychology and occupational therapy will allow a thorough exploration of trauma and attachment and the impact these have had upon the child’s social and emotional being.
