Jump Start Occupational Therapy can support schools (mainstream, independent, specialist, primary, secondary, preschool) with a range of services, tailored to your school’s needs.

All of our therapists have full DBS certification and professional liability insurance, as well as receiving all necessary mandatory training.  We supply our staff with excellent supervision from an advanced Sensory Integration practitioner, team support and professional development training.

The therapist can fit seamlessly into the work environment of the school, having regular hours and following all the school’s policies and procedures.

We can offer high level training for staff, in a variety of areas such as Sensory Integration, handwriting skills.

Research underpins our practice. We use Ayers Fidelity tools and a range of Standardised tests, including the Gold Standard Sensory and Integration and Praxis Test (SIPT).

Our therapists work within their professional code of practice and ensure that they are familiar with recent research and guidelines informing practice.

A therapist can come to your school for a day, to conduct multiple assessments of need within your setting and provide a range of recommendations and strategies to help students and staff.  We can advise on setting up a ‘Sensory Smart’ classroom.

Our therapists at Jump Start have experience of working with infants, toddlers and preschoolers.  Therapists can visit the preschool setting and make observations of the children and advise in areas such as feeding, motor skills, sensory processing.  All our staff are DBS checked.

We can also offer staff in house training, such as ‘Happy Hands’ – how to develop preschool writing skills.

Jump Start have contracts to supply occupational therapy with Sensory Integration to a number of specialist schools, whether it is a day a week or a regular review we can work closely with staff to ensure all pupils have their sensory needs met.

We offer schools their very own Sensory Integration-trained Occupational therapist, providing the training, peer support and supervision they need to provide your school with the expert support not readily available elsewhere.

The Jump Start school model is proven to be effective and provides support on three levels.

  1) Universal support

At the universal level the needs of the whole school are considered.

Jump Start can provide training, parent’s meetings, information display boards and sensory circuits.       

   2) Targeted support

Provided at the classroom level.

This if often aimed at developing the staff members’ understanding of the needs of their pupils, and ways that changes can be made to help the whole class run more smoothly. Sensory diets, movement breaks and environmental recommendations can be provided.

         3) Individual support

Sometimes the sensory needs of a pupil cannot be met through universal and targeted approaches and an individual may need specialist one to one therapy, we can provide these services.

Part of our provision is to demonstrate that our services provide the outcomes that schools are looking for. We regularly review and audit our service and provide written reports for governors to evidence the service we offer is worth the investment.
