At Jump Start Therapy we work with many children and young adults who have experienced trauma, abuse or neglect. Our therapists have specialist knowledge in sensory integration, neurology and attachment theory, and have training in Sensory Attachment Invention.

Sensory Attachment Therapy combines these specialist skills to provide individualised treatment that considers both the sensory and attachment needs of the individual we are working with. We work closely with caregivers and have extensive experience working with adoptive and foster parents to support them understand the complex behaviours that difficult beginnings can cause.
We take referrals from Social work teams, Adoption agencies and will work closely alongside other agencies to ensure best support for our clients.

Sensory Attachment Therapy is based on the principle that adverse early experiences will negatively impact development: This includes brain neurology, sensory processing, motor skills and relationships. We start with an in depth assessment, looking at how the individual regulates their emotions, senses, movement and relationships. Dependent on the findings of the assessment we develop a program that enables the individual with support from their caregivers and others that engage with them, to better process their sensory systems, and regulate their emotions, improve their motor skills and build on their relationships. This is done through fun, playful therapy sessions usually in our specialised sensory gym running alongside educational support for caregivers, schools and necessary others.
